Shikari's
dream
Size- 150-120 cms/ canvas;
1999. |
| Shikari
means 'a hunter' and his dream and reality is to 'hunt' but
here they all are, 'captured' as a part of an artist's dream
on a tapestry. Quite unlike the image I have in my mind of a
hunter, here he looks beautiful with his 'feminine' appeal and
his lady looks equally graceful without really looking like
a woman. |

Fruits from my orchard
125-105 cms/ canvas; 1999.
These
beautiful and sensual ladies take care of their orchard while
the men watch them silently from their windows. The fruit here
is these ladies themselves, who appear to be so innocent and
delicate in their glowing white bodies. |

Celebrity
125-105
cms/ canvas; 1999. |
| A
photograph I saw in a book inspires this painting. Here I have
tried to depict the 'bonding' between good friends. Even though
there is a celebrity amongst them in 'red' yet, all inhibitions
melt when these good friends meet. They always enjoy the warmth
in each other's hearts. In this painting I have used "DRIP"
technique, which I enjoy a lot. |

Lady
with a little lamb
120-120 cms/ canvas; 1999. |
She
is protective of the little that is not her own
Caressing it with the passion in "red", she holds the newborn.
Her love reflects purity and so her eyes. Even the whites of
her robe! Yet, she is possessive of the little lamb.... that
is not her own. |

Massage
80-70 cms/ canvas; 1999.
|
| Here
a young girl gets a massage in a parlour where she finds herself
detached from reality, when she closes her eyes briefly…she
finds a new unexplored world through her closed eyes which is
vibrant, different from the suffocating world of reality. |

saw passion in their deep penetrating eyes
Lovers, who had waited endlessly
For a special day when she would say a "yes"
To their many nervous lines from the heart..

My
turquoise veil
125-105 cms/ canvas; 1999.
|
We
are a part of the group, we think so alike
We steal thoughts from each other's minds
But I wonder why we still fight!
It is some bonding .. Its colour maybe 'turquoise'
It helps us be together and maintain our poise. |

Krishna
150-37.5 cms/ canvas (size of a single
panel); 1999. |
| These
panels reflect stories that may have been for real, from Indian
mythology. Krishna, our lord is The procreator, The purifier,
powerful omni-present and imperishable. Here he is seen as a
lover, pacifying Radha, his beloved (panel 1,4); and in his
immortal role, powerful, setting the norms of life sacrifice,
action, knowledge and worship. (Panel 2,3) |
